I just found out why I loved that little black 3.1 Phillip Lim dress so much.
Look at this Claire McCardell dress from the 50s. Similar, no?
I was about to say that Phillip (yes, I'm on first name basis) used a completely different neckline while still having the silhouette feel the same. But then I remembered I also had this one in my saved images folder...
THAT is why his dress felt so familiar. Again, his neckline is different but definitely more similar to this McCardell creation than the one above. It's such a great design; a very cute springy dress which would be only better by the addition of pockets for picking up stones along your way.
