Simplicity 4077
Well, the shirt has no hem or buttons yet. What is it about making buttonholes that intimidates me? I don't remember any traumatic buttonhole-related disasters in my past. Hopefully, I'll get it together this weekend.
The other top still seems to be too wide in the neckline despite my creation of a 1/4" inch (1/2" in total) pleat down the center front.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a way to finish the neckline and create a closer neckline? I was thinking something like a stand or a wide Nehru-like collar but I'm not sure how it will look on this style top.
Thoughts?

What about one of those facing like thingy-majigs that are so popular on the raglan sleeve jackets? Make sense? Like Simplicity's 3631 or the way you finish off a t-shirt? It's an idea at least.
A wide, standing, rolled collar would look good, and appropriately retro, I think. About an inch to an inch and a half high when rolled/folded over on itself.
I have a dress with rolled collar, similar to scb's suggestion. I like it very much but I'm not sure it does much to close the neckline, so to speak. Picture here: http://www.clevergirl.org/2008/05/summer-dress-1-new-look-6731-sleeveless.html
Your S4077 is looking great! Hope you get to finish it this weekend. :)
Thanks everyone!
Amy and Antoinette, I like both of those suggestions. I think I'll try Amy's suggestion first. I'll just have to play around with making a pattern for it. I get to use my trusty Reader's Digest Sewing book! Hopefully I can finish that shirt this weekend (I only have that collar to do) though I do have studying for an exam to do too.
Antoinette, I love that dress, I must have missed that one before when I went through your archives.
