Summer To Sew

Feel the need for some summer sewing?

Well, then check out some of these season appropriate patterns available at my Etsy shop, Dragonfly Metamorphpursuit:
Vogue 1723

How about this pattern by Ralph Lauren? Easy breezy skirts and full-legged pants in a tissue faille or crepe de chine as the pattern suggests, though I would probably go with a drapey rayon.

A perfect Asian inspired warbrobe made in linen? I have to admit I hate ironing so a little poly blending in that fabric would be a very good thing.

Another great summer wardrobe is to be had in this design by Adri, available in sizes 8-10-12. Makes you feel cool just looking at it, right?

Vogue 2112 by Issac Mizrahi would be pretty cool (and cool) wouldn't it? Available in sizes 8-10-12. I love that little dress with the split neckline, in fact, I have a tried n' true pattern for a similar one. So this one is available to you for only $5!

Last but not least,

Simplicity 7538 - Simplicity 6672

Seems familiar right? I think it must have come out at the same time as this Internet favorite, Simplicity 6672 . Don't you think so? However, 7538 is unique and rare on the Web, a size 8 and is only $2!

What's in the store now:

I just put some more Vogue designer patterns in the shop; Ralph Lauren, Anne Klein, and a Badgley Mischka evening dress. I also put one in that isn't a designer pattern but is so pretty it could be.

Vogue 2594

A very romantic, somewhat Gothic tinged set of blouses, Notice that views E & D have gathered necklines with split fronts with lacing. Just enough "pirate" without being too "puffy shirt." And View A is just lovely, imagine it in a creamy silk charmeuse...

I would keep this pattern if I thought I would really make it. But I already have over 100 patterns I hope to make in front of this one in the queue. So, someone please give this pattern a good home, won't you?

The Store Is Open!!

Check over to the right. Do you see it? My little Etsy store, Dragonfly-Metamorphpursuit!

Well, it's open again and I've already had a sale! Thanks, Marie!

I'm in the process of putting up more patterns as the days go by but please go and check it out now. Some of the designer Vogue patterns are in there now with some of the cheapest prices offered for them on the internets. Especially check out that Isaac Mizrahi one!

Thanks in advance!!

Hats Off To You!

Friday, I spent innumerable hours scanning patterns into my computer and transferring them to Flickr in advance of adding them to my Etsy shop. I am not even halfway through the 135 I'm going to sell.

Why don't I just take digital pictures of them, you ask? Well, my camera, the Kodak EasyShare C310, is crap at taking close detailed photos. See?

Which is something you should definitely think about if you bought a digital camera primarily to use on a blog to document specific details of your homemade projects. Oh, well.

What I wanted to say is...my hat is off to anyone who sells patterns on the Internet. After awhile I was tempted to just drop these things off at Goodwill and be done with them. I don't know how you do it while getting new stock in daily or even weekly? I appreciate you all so much more now. Thanks for all you do!

Pattern stash for sale

This coming weekend, I will be adding some of those 135 patterns to my Etsy shop.

Here are some payment options that I'm mulling over:

  • The majority of the patterns will go for $2-3 each, certain Vogue patterns for $5.
  • Since the original owner of this group brought her patterns in one size range I will offer some as lots of 10.
  • I have a Flickr group of patterns I would love to own. If you happen to possess any of these patterns in my size (12-14) and see a pattern in my store you want, we can arrange a straight swap.
  • If you see a few patterns you want, I will offer a group price.
Please, please, please check out the store and pass the link around, if you can. 135 patterns are a lot to have sitting in an already packed living room.

THANKS!

I went to Jo-Anns...

and came home with 155 patterns.

Free.

No, I did NOT steal them from Jo-Anns but received them out of the back seat of a local reader's car! This lovely woman; Pat, contacted me a few weeks ago after I posted about my recent pattern splurge. She had lucked out on purchasing six boxes of patterns at a yard sale (all for $10!) and now desperately wanted the rest of them out of her house in order to declutter. We've all been there, right?

She had a feeling I might want them or would know what to do with them, so we arranged to meet at Jo-Ann's (tempting fate, right?) to do the exchange and talk sewing.
THANKS PATRICIA!!!!!

After I got home that night, I went through them pretty quickly to pick the ones that I wanted, at first sight. I was amazed at how many Vogue patterns there were (59!) and how many of these patterns were untouched; about 95%.

Right now, I'm just letting it all absorb in. Obviously, I don't want to keep all of them either. I found 15 that I want to keep (including one I'll write about later). So, there may be some give-aways or they may all end up in my little, forgotten Etsy shop, DragonFly. All I have done up to this point is sort them out according to pattern brand:
  • Burda = 10
  • Butterick = 18
  • McCalls = 21
  • Simplicity = 12
  • Style = 2
  • Vogue = 59!

They also range in age from mid-1970s to the late 1990's. Believe me, I will definitely post the scary ones from the 1980s. More pictures are available on Flickr and if you see anything you must have, just let me know.

This dress is now for sale in my Etsy shop, Dragonfly! If you are currently pregnant or know someone else who is, please pass this along.

Also this little 1960s-inspired top is in the store too.
